Remembering two great actors

Dorothy Dandridge once said that if she were white, the whole world would fall in love with her. I wonder if that's true, would we celebrates her and admire her much like we do Marilyn Monroe if she had been white. Two women both beautiful with decent acting career and tragic lives. So why to we remember one more often then the other, is it a matter of race or did Dorothy just not tug on our hearts the ways Marilyn did? In all honesty I think Dorothy was the better actor but the only reason I really admire either of them is for their beauty not their talent. Sometimes we don't chose our legacies but being remembered for your beauty is hardly the worst trail to leave behind.
